'A race of men, incomparable in character, shall be raised up which, with feet of detachment, will tread under all who are in heaven and on earth, and will cast the sleeve of holiness over all that hath been created from water and clay'

Abdul Baha says that ‘The Springtime of a man’s life is the youth hood and it is endowed with marvelous glory’. During these years they leave childhood behind and undergo profound change.

A National Coordinators gathering was held in Kotagala Green House Retreat Centre from the 15 to 21 October 2013, under the auspices of Counselor.

Book 5 is a Junior Youth empowerment Program that offers to enhance spiritual and intellectual capacities and prepare youths to participate effectively towards the betterment of their communities. Furthermore, the book not only helps to develop the spiritual capacities of the junior youth but also paves the way for the animators to further enhance their concepts, skills, qualities and attitudes that are required to animate.

Forty-two friends from 6 different clusters around the country participated in an intensive book 5 campaigns, for some it was a refresher course, and for others it was their first unique experience. We discussed the age of maturity, fragmentation, the purpose of life, the twofold purpose that impels an individual’s to take charge of their own spiritual and intellectual growth and contribute to the welfare of society, spirit of selfless services and about their true self. There was a great deal of excitement and enthusiasm among the youths as they understood the nature of change in an individual and envisioned society as a fundamental purpose because they could contribute to the creation of a material and spiritual world. These youths learned that each one of them possess a gem like qualities which lies hidden within the mine of their true and inmost selves.

The Counselor facilitated the campaign for seven days out of which five days were spent at the Kotagala retreat centre and two days were spent in the field of Dickoya Cluster. The friends were divided into groups according to sectors- Manikawatte, Darawala and Horncey. They visited children classes, Junior Youth Groups, parents of the Animators and teachers and had meaningful and distinctive conversation which helped each of them gain experiences; this very act of home visits gave us all different insights and learning’s. Friends from each of the groups shared their experiences and learning’s, they also drew plans until December in order to revive, strengthen and systemize the children classes and Junior Youth Program, to accompany the coordinators to accompany the collaborators and teachers, animators, to personally accompany in lesson preparation, reflection gatherings, and parents meetings.
